The Round Hill Box The Round Hill Box

Every month we will bring you two brand new, truly exceptional coffees. Bringing together bright and vibrant coffees from producers that we work closely with, always in line with the changing seasons. This box is an opportunity for us to share our most exciting micro-lots, never repeating a coffee within a calendar year. We roast and ship these coffees at the beginning of each month so all new orders placed will be not be shipped immediately.

Box 043 will be dispatched on Monday the 3rd of August. This month's Round Hill Box celebrates 2 producers from this remarkable corner of Guatemala. While Francisco Morales and Catarina Ramírez Méndez have very different stories, they share a commitment to continual improvement. These coffees are the product not only of careful farming but of a wider culture built on collaboration, with a network of farmers, agronomists and exporters sharing knowledge and refining practices year after year.

  • Francisco Morales

Francisco Morales is the proud owner of La Esperanza farm in Cipresales, which he and his wife established over 40 years ago. Thanks to decades of hard work and dedication, La Esperanza - ‘The Hope’ - now supports their family and many local employees, producing around 17 tonnes of coffee annually. We are thrilled to have Francisco’s coffee back in the roastery this season.

Finca Gomez now comprises 4.3 hectares, producing Caturra and Bourbon varieties beneath a canopy of Gravilea, Chalun and fruit trees.

Seasonal buying is about seeing coffee as a crop not a commodity, buying in harmony with the growing seasons to enjoy coffee at its best. This kind of buying has always been the backbone of our business and it’s something we’ve improved and refined every year.
