Don Guillermo Jaramillo’s 21 hectare farm, Finca Buena Vista, is found in Ciudad Bolívar, Antioquia, between 1450 and 1730 masl. The farm has been operating since 1969, and has just over 17 hectares dedicated to growing coffee, with around 94,000 trees of mainly Caturra and Variedad Colombia. Alongside his wife, Luz Marina Moncada, the family has overseen the farm's operations for generations.
The Jaramillo family have only recently turned their attention from the commercial market to growing specialty grade coffee, with great success. Their son Gabriel’s friend Juan Saldarriaga was instrumental in this shift; Juan is a pioneer in quality-driven production in the region, collaborating with farmers to share knowledge, processing methods and fermentation protocols. We have had the pleasure of roasting some of Juan’s coffees for the past 8 years - his expertise in natural and more experimental processing is evident in every cup.
Seasonal buying is about seeing coffee as a crop not a commodity, buying in harmony with the growing seasons to enjoy coffee at its best. This kind of buying has always been the backbone of our business and it’s something we’ve improved and refined every year.
